Main directions of investigations:
- The elaboration of new effective methods and ways of poultry selection (hens, geese, turkeys).
- The elaboration of information technologies for realization and control of the selection process in the poultry industry.

- The department is engaged in elaboration of selection programs of creation and improvement of lines, crosses and breeds of poultry, programs of the perspective development for state, regional and economic levels, normative-and-legal documentation for the fulfillment of the law About the breeding work in the live-stock farming. The department takes part in the elaboration of investment projects concerning the poultry farms for the production of breeding and commodity output. The scientific workers of our department are members of inspection, committee and working groups of the state and regional levels.
- The department carries out the State certification of poultry breeding farms for awarding the status of the subject of breeding work in the live-stock farming. We consult the specialists of poultry farms on questions of poultry breeding. We train and give specialists of breeding farms the
certificate.
- The department works out mathematical methods and information technologies for modeling of selection processes and monitoring concerning their course.
- The laboratory of the genetic control is engaged in elaboration of methods and makes an examination on determining the genetic structure of lines, breeds and hybrids of poultry by different classes of marker
features.
